Our Trainers

CASSIE

I currently attend UW River Falls, majoring in Equine Science. I am a third year student. With my degree I hope to own and operate a training and lesson facility. I have been working with horses for 8 years. In 2001 I started working for Wild River Stable, taking out trail rides for the public. I currently give lessons to school groups and individuals. I also train horses. There are many horses that I have started for the trail and arena. At home I have four of my own horses that I have trained for speed events, pleasure riding, trail riding and roping. I have also sold some well trained colts to 4-h families. I have been very involved with 4-h and have learned alot. I currently compete with my horses in many of the local fairs. Since I am attending school during the winter months, I work with horses during the summer months. I am familiar with a variety of different disciplines, including: trail riding, horsemanship skills, beginning western and English, with an emphasis in speed events. During the summer I offer lessons in the above disciplines. I also offer colt starting and/or finishing, and training for the seasoned horse that needs a tune up.
About My Horses:Autumn is a 15 yr old Quarter Horse. She was my first gaming horse. We bought her in May 2000 and together we have won two State 4-H trips and many horse show ribbons and trophies. Autumn has also taken me to the WSCA Champ show. She has taught a lot of people how to ride in games.
Axl is an Appaloosa gelding born in ’99. I purchased him in 2002 and won State 4-H trips in ’03 thru ‘06. Axl and I have also placed at the WSCA Champ Show. I did all of his speed event training, and I am very proud of his accomplishments.
Slash is my new horse I have been working with. Slash is a 7 yr old solid color Pinto. I am training him for the speed events. I purchased him in '06 and he is doing very well, and is currently in his first show season. Holley is a 2 yr old Quarter horse. Autumn is her mother. At the moment she has had some training in the saddle and is doing very well. She is a very fast learner. I plan to start her as a western pleasure horse and progress to reining and cow work.

Katy with Rebel

Hello, My name is Katy, I am 18 years old, and I just graduated from Chisago Lakes High School. I will attending North Dakota State University this fall. I plan to major in Agribusiness with a minor in equine science. I have been training horses for 5 years now, and have been working at WRS for 4 years giving lessons, trail rides and day camps. I started riding and taking lessons at the age of 5, and got my first horse, Tezzadina, when I was 8. Tezzadina was an 18 year old Arab mare. She taught me how to ride, and I started showing in Pleasure and Games with her in 4-H and WSCA at age 9. When I was 10, my family received a young Quarter Horse mare named Rain. We broke her, and I am currently finishing her for Western Pleasure. She will be entering the show ring this year. As I got older, and more experienced, I needed a more challenging horse, so I sold Tezzadina and purchased Zandra, a 10 year old Quarter Horse mare, who had been shown in Pleasure for about 8 years. She was smart and had attitude. I took lessons on her for a summer to learn her cues and then started showing her competitively in 4-H
and WSCA. I showed her consistently for about 5 years, until I finished training my Morgan, Bowoods Rio Dandy, whom I had purchased when I was 13. That is when I got into the Morgan world, and apprenticed under a few trainers, the best being a woman named Judy. Through them I learned a ton about raising young, training, showing and everything else that goes with them. Currently, I am showing Rio in the North Central Morgan Horse Association and American Morgan Horse Association, in saddleseat and sometimes huntseat. I am showing my 17 hand Quarter Horse gelding Rebel, in jackpot barrels around the state and working a few horses into western pleasure. My biggest challenge right now is my new yearling Morgan mare named Jude. I plan to show Jude in hand and maybe driving this year at Morgan shows.
