~*Day Camp*~
Week long day camps are offered to groups of at least 5, but not more than 30 students with a half day or full day option.
Level I covers getting to know your horse, safety, basic seat and hand position, beginning trot, and using natural aids.
Level IIa&b will cover improving balance, posture, horse terminology, the canter, gaits and transitions, trail riding, posting on correct diagonal and the first jump.
Level III will cover knowledge of equipment, bits and bridling, horse care, rein aids, natural aids, improving with canter/lope, riding bareback, leads, transitions, school figures, turn-backs and jumping.
Teen Camp is done on a more informal basis and will consist of the trainer and campers meeting each morning and discussing what they would like to learn and do that day. The week generally includes learning and practicing training of a horse, lunging, jumping, practicing horse games, drill team, and an all day ride through Wild River State Park.
Each morning will start with lecture, demonstration and individual riding. Optional afternoons will include games on horse, trail rides and other horse activities. All camps end on Friday with a potluck, a competition with the kids demonstrating what they have learned, and presentation of ribbons, trophies, and certificates of completion. Parents, family and friends are welcome on Friday afternoon to watch and cheer on their camper. Each student will have their own horse for the week. Camp starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm.
